Alternative Dispute Resolution - Informing Customers

As of October 1, businesses must ensure that they are fully compliant with the new Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) legislation that came into force on July 9. This includes providing information about your ADR provider on your website and in any contractual terms with customers.

Through your RMI membership you are fully covered by the National Conciliation Service (NCS). Below we have created a standard paragraph which you can place on your website and on any relevant documents:

“We are subscribed to the National Conciliation Service (NCS) which is the UK’s certified automotive retail Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider. As one of our customers, you are able to use the NCS if you feel we have not internally been able to resolve your complaint.

The NCS has been certified by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (TSI) as compliant with UK and EU regulations in respect of ADR.”

For more information on the new ADR legislation, please call our member helpline on 0845 305 4230.
