Issue 2 solves the source of an abnormal noise coming from a Hyundai i30.

Q. We have a customer with a 2009 Hyundai i30 who is complaining of an abnormal noise from the rear suspension. We have checked all of the suspension components but can’t find any excessive wear. Has this problem been reported before?

A. Yes, this has been reported by other i30 owners and affects models from the start of production up to 31/05/2010. The problem is due to movement between the rear shock absorber damper rod cover and the rear suspension strut upper mounting bush.

Pull down the shock absorber damper rod cover and thoroughly clean the damper rod cover top and upper mounting bush. Apply an appropriate sealant to the upper outside edge of the shock absorber damper rod cover and refit. Carry this procedure out on both rear shock absorber damper rod covers.

Road test the vehicle to confirm the noise is no longer present.
