Issue 3 invigilates squealing front brakes in a 2019 Jaguar XF.

Q. A customer’s 2010 Jaguar XF is suffering with front brake squeal when braking at low speeds as the vehicle comes to a stop. We have removed and inspected the brake pads and brake disks which are all in good condition, and we cannot find a fault. Have you come across this before?

A. Yes, this fault is known to us and also affects Jaguar S-Type (X200), XJ (X350/358) and XK (X150) models with 326mm front brake discs. The squeal is due to resonance from the front brake caliper anti-rattle spring. Using anti-squeal shim kit available from Jaguar parts department, fit anti-squeal shims to front brake caliper carrier (see figure below).

Fit anti-squeal shim to inside of caliper anti-rattle spring. Refit front brake caliper anti-rattle spring. Road test the vehicle to confirm the fault has been resolved.
