Bangers 4 BEN 2016 - The Results

31 October 2016

The 2016 Bangers 4 Ben event took place between Saturday 8th October and Wednesday 12th October, with teams driving from Dover to The Maranello Village in Italy, and back again, to raise money for motor charity BEN.

While in the village teams stayed in the only Ferrari themed hotel in the world, and also went to the Ferrari museum and test track. The teams had to pick a car worth no more than £750 and dress it for the occasion. IGA went with the ‘Faux-rari’ theme for their Peugeot 406 Coupé, donning the colours of Italy teamed with the classic Ferrari red.

Terry said of the journey: “The car behaved the whole way, aside from a mild spot of overheating when driving through the Gotthard pass in Switzerland. That gave us an excellent opportunity for some photos though, so it wasn’t too bad.”

The teams that participated in the event hoped to raise at least £44,880 in total, from any small donations from co-workers, friends and family, to the auction of the cars themselves, all of which have been customised to suit the theme of each individual team. After the auction last week, the grand total raised is £56,448.89, which is a record amount for Bangers4BEN!

The event was held to help raise both money and awareness for Ben, the not-for-profit charity working to support those in the automotive industry and their families for life. BEN are also holding their first ‘Hats On 4 Mental Health’ day on Thursday 10th November, in conjunction with World Mental Health Day, where you can donate £1 and wear a hat to work in order to raise awareness and funding for Ben’s mental health support. Ben have also recently relaunched their logo and website, making their logo much easier to recognise and their site better to navigate and see what the organisation has to offer. They have also launched an entirely brand new job site, which enables people in the automotive industry to look for work within the niche market available to them, and has the potential to help people get back on their feet with work.
