30 May 2019 The IGA is aware of two seperate organisations that are claiming to have a connection with the RMI/IGA/TMG and are contacting members.

Scam: Autodata branded phishing emails

13 February 2019 A fraudulent email using the Autodata brand asking to confirm outstanding payments due to "Autodata".

12 December 2018 The scam centres on fraudulent Card Not Present (CNP) transactions.

31 October 2018 An email will come through claiming that a domain pertaining to your business has been requested.

Scam: Vehicle Repair & Recovery

31 July 2018 Garages receive an email from a potential customer asking if they can look at a vehicle - Normally a VOLVO XC90 – that they have just purchased, which they believe requires repair work and an MOT.

Scam: VAT Business Directory

29 June 2018 The organisation, British Business & Commerce, sends an official looking letter to small businesses, telling them they are required under the EU to provide their VAT registration number.

29 January 2018 Scammers have been calling and visiting garages claiming to be from a local newspaper, asking if they would like to place a low-cost advert (around £25) as an offer in conjunction with the RMI.
