Government launches resources to help businesses prepare for the end of Brexit

28 August 2020

The Government’s campaign ‘The UK’s new start: let’s get going’ sets out the actions businesses and individuals need to take to prepare for the end of the UK’s Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020.

You can use their simple checker tool at gov.uk/transition which identifies any actions you can take now to help you and your business prepare for the change, that won’t be affected by EU negotiations. By completing the short questionnaire you get a personalised list and can also sign up to receive email updates when things change.

The actions people and business owners may need to take include:

  • Making sure you are ready to travel to Europe from 1 January 2021, for example by getting comprehensive travel insurance, ensuring your passport is valid, and checking your roaming policy with your mobile phone provider.
  • Making sure your business is ready to export or import from/to the EU, for example by getting an EU EORI number or registering with the relevant Customs Authority.

Click here to visit the ‘UK transition’ homepage where you can complete the checker and see details of the key actions that businesses and individuals need to take before the end of the transition period.

If you have any questions about how Brexit could affect your business, please please call the direct member helpline or 0845 305 4230, or email enquiries@rmif.co.uk.
