HR Update: EU Settlement Scheme

HR Update: EU Settlement Scheme

30 September 2019

Although the road to Brexit is still unclear, there is already a set path for EU nationals living in the UK who would like to remain here: They must apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 31st December 2020.

Any EU nationals and their families currently living in the UK will have to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 in order to be allowed to stay in the country. If they do not apply before the deadline they will no longer be living in the UK legally.

The Home Office has created an Employer Toolkit to help businesses that employ EU Nationals provide information and support throughout the application process.

The Employer Toolkit includes:

  • Briefing information about the EU Settlement Scheme and the application process you can share with management, HR and employees
  • Factsheets, leaflets and posters you can display in communal areas at your premises
  • Digital, social media and video assets you can share to raise awareness
