MOT QC Update: Add an RMI auditor as an MOT consultant on your MTS
The DVSA has introduced an MOT Consultant role that can be added to your MTS, as announced in Special Notice 03-19.
This means that RMI MOT QC members can now add an RMI Auditor as an Authorised Examiner Consultant (AEC), allowing us to preview Test Quality Information and Test Logs to be better equipped to conduct your audit when we arrive on site.
This causes less disruption to you and lets us conduct these checks even if a designated role holder is not on site, allowing us to give advice should any area highlight situations that require further investigation or indicate concern.
The other advantage is that you may also choose to have your audit conducted unannounced, which would better replicate what DVSA would find if they arrive without warning.
If you are interested in joining the RMI’s MOT QC Scheme, , or call the direct member helpline or 0845 305 4230 for more information.
If an RMI auditor is added to your MTS as a consultant, the information they can see is limited to:
- Test quality information
- Test logs
- Tester annual assessment certificates
- Site review outcomes
They cannot carry out any other actions, such as buying slots, starting tests or assigning roles, or anything on your system.
This role can only be allocated by the Authorised Examiner Designated Manager (AEDM), and the role can be removed anytime by the AEDM.
As the role is allocated at the AE level rather than VTS level, if you have more than one site this will cover all sites.
Whilst your auditor will advise on what they view when conducting the visit, ongoing checking of this data remains the responsibility of the AEDM or person delegated by the AEDM, as only the AE can see all relevant information.
Allocating this role is optional and we are still more than happy to conduct our MOTQC audits by viewing what is available during our visits.
For more information please call the direct member helpline, or or 0845 305 4230 for more information.
