MOT Update - August 2015

30 July 2015

Switchover to new MOT testing service has started

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has published more guidance to help garages and testers with the switchover to its new MOT testing service (MTS).

By 1 August 2015, more than 3,500 garages will be using MTS to carry out live MOT tests with more than 60,000 tests successfully carried out so far.

The agency is on schedule to switchover all 22,500 MOT garages to MTS by the end of August 2015 before the old MOT Comp system is turned off in September 2015.

In the meantime, DVSA is asking MOT trade members to make sure they read through all the recent web-based guidance it’s published about switching to MTS. This will make sure trade members are aware of:

· How to claim their new MTS accounts

· Prepare sites and themselves for their switchover date

· What’s changed in MTS and how to use it

Since the start of June, DVSA has updated all its guidance on the GOV.UK website and its Matters of Testing blog which you can find under the following links:

· Move to the new MOT testing service and claim your account

· Use the new MOT testing service

· Matters of Testing: MOT Modernisation

Finally, DVSA has reminded those who use MTS to make sure they report any problems they have using it to its Business Service Desk (BSD) on:

· 0330 123 5654 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm Saturday (excluding public holidays).

Please don’t contact your Area Office, the Customer Service Centre or the Atos Helpdesk for advice as they will not be able to help.
