Trust My Garage - 2016 Annual Report Results

31 October 2016

We are delighted to share that the first Trust My Garage Code of Practice Annual Report has revealed very extremely high satisfaction levels from consumers who have used a TMG member for the last vehicle service or repair.

The report marks a year since TMG became an approved Consumer Code Approval Scheme (CCAS) under Chartered Trading Standards Institute, which gives customers extra reassurance that they can trust your business plus additional consumer protection rights, as well as giving you extra benefits to your TMG membership such as being able to advertise your garage as backed by Trading Standards, and your garage automatically listed on the official Trading Standards website.

Based on results from TMG’s online feedback system over the past year, 98% of consumers were satisfied that the member only carried out necessary or quoted work, and 97% of customers were likely to use the member again. The overall satisfaction rate for TMG members over the last year was 88%, based on a score calculated across 10 questions consumers are asked when filling out the feedback form.

Awareness of the TMG brand is also increasing, and consumers are beginning to realise the importance of their local garage belonging to a member of a Trading Standards backed trade association. In response to the question “How Important is it to you that the garage is a Trust My Garage member”, over 70% of respondents answered “Important”, “Very Important” or “I will only use a Trust My Garage Member”.

The TMG code was originally started to increase standards in the industry so we are very pleased with these results, and hope you are too. However, there is always more that can be done to boost awareness, and we would love to see more promotion of the TMG code to customers through your garages.

Sharing our updates on Twitter and Facebook is an easy, effective way to increase TMG’s visibility, and we post helpful motoring advice daily that your customers could find helpful. There are also lots of ways you can encourage customer feedback, which will increase online visibility for your garage – find out how member David Cogan did so here.

We’ve also previously published TMG guides to Twitter and Facebook, A “Doodle-Ad” video that you can publish on your website or play in your reception, guidelines help you display the CCAS logo correctly, as well as many more downloadable resources in the Members Area.

If you’re not a TMG member yet and would like to join, visit www.TRUSTMYGARAGE.co.uk or call the IGA member helpline on 0845 305 4230.
