Dear Member,

Last year we made you aware that the IGA would be conducting a study on work providers so garage businesses could make an informed decision about which provider would be best to work with. This report is now complete and will be with you in the next couple of weeks. Whilst the IGA would strongly recommend a business promotes its own brand and merits to consumers, we understand there is a place for these types of ‘middle-men’. We hope you find this first edition useful and will continue to monitor these businesses closely for future updates.

The GDPR deadline of 25th May is nearly upon us. In the majority of recent garage audits, we have found standards to be significantly lower than expected and strongly urge you to consider how you are going to ensure full compliance before the deadline. It is not as difficult to meet the standard as it initially appears and the Garage Guide to GDPR recently sent to you will help you to formulate a plan. Should you need any further support, please contact the helpline.

The 2018/19 MOT annual training period has begun. Please be aware that this year’s subject matter is more complex, coupled with an increased pass rate of 70%. We are offering an additional one-day training course to include practical elements at the RMI Academies. We are also providing the same suite of training packages as previous years. Should you require the annual training on your premises, please book this as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as this is very popular.

If you need our assistance with any of the topics above, please don’t hesitate to call the member helpline on 0845 305 4230.

Best regards,

Stuart James
