Not wishing to scaremonger, there is too much of that already. However, you should be aware that GDPR legislation has now come into force, which means there is a risk you could incur a fine if you haven’t protected your customers’ data in line with the new requirements. Whilst you don’t need to do an excessive amount to be compliant, you cannot afford to do nothing. The IGA’s Garage Guide to GDPR will help you achieve compliance step-by-step, and if you need any further support, please give us a call.
Changes to the MOT test also came into effect last month, which the DVSA expects all testers to have a thorough knowledge of. Garages appear to be coping so far, but as this year’s MOT annual training covers these changes, we would recommend you complete your annual training early this year to ensure your understanding is correct. Remember that not only is the subject matter more complex this year, the pass mark is higher and early indications show first-time passes have decreased. The Enhanced MOT Annual training option has proven popular in assisting garages to pass the higher threshold.
The team will be at Automechanika Birmingham which starts next week, and if you’re visiting the exhibition you can come and see us on stand S126 in the Garage Quarter. We’ll also be presenting a seminar on the MOT changes, so book your free tickets below and join us there.
