Harry Lewis is a Technical Trainer at the Independent Garage Association.
Harry’s role consists of training technicians in our range of technical courses, both in the field and at the RMI Academy of Automotive Skills.
Harry left school and trained as a motor vehicle technician via the old fashioned “5 year apprenticeship route” plus two additional years of night school courses to attain IMI and IRTE membership. After 10 years “on the spanners” he moved into management during his further years at Ford dealerships before joining the MVRA on the Technical/MOT Helpline for members.
He continued in this position after the MVRA jooined the RMIF. During this period he retrained to be a qualified MOT Tester and attended both MOT QC and AE Manager training courses to enable him to carry out MOT Tests at one of our local members to maintain NT status.
Harry has had the opportunity over these years to talk to and help hundreds of members both with technical issues and also VOSA/DVSA discliplinary issues, and as required prepare written representations on their behalf to VOSA/DVSA.
His hobbies range from reading, watching films, walking and travelling.
