Q: Who are you and what is your business?
A: I am the Managing Director of Collison Motoring Services Ltd, a MOT, service and diagnostic garage near Portsmouth. We are a Bosch car service centre and Trust My Garage Members.
Q: How did you start in the Motor Industry?
A: An opportunity presented itself on my leaving the Royal Navy.
Q: How do you see the future of the IGA?
A: Pivotal to enabling independent garages to be able to secure a future.
Q: What are the big issues facing the Motor Industry and what can IGA do to address those issues and
help its members?
A: Access to training & technical data is the biggest current issue. Then a close second is Service Plans and the perception of warranty locking customers exclusively into the main dealer cycle. Colin Parlett and Stuart James have already done excellent work in the UK and Europe to address these items and unite the independent sector. I think it is vital that this is continued and that through the mass support of the independent trade we give strength to the IGA pushing these priorities forward.
Q: How should the IGA’s money be spent?
A: I love the current focus on quality which Trust My Garage has presented to the public. Any money spent on highlighting independent garages as the credible, competent, customer focused businesses we should be can only be a wise investment.
Q: What is your message for the IGA and other members?
A: Let’s demonstrate irrefutably high standards within the independent sector and then we can stand together ready to take whatever opportunities the IGA can forge to move forward.
