The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force in May 2018, is EU-designed legislation with the objective to strengthen the rights of individuals when companies use, collect and share their personal data.

If you haven’t taken the steps required to comply with the regulations and protect your customers’ data you could now be liable to a fine of up to 4% of your turnover. If your business isn’t compliant, you should work through the IGA’s ‘Garage Guide to GDPR’ workbook in full, as it contains all the steps you need to take to ensure that your business complies with the new legislation.

No matter your current level of GDPR compliance, we will keep you up-to-date with new changes to the legislation via the bulletin.

If you require more detailed assistance with your GDPR compliance requirements, contact the IGA on the member helpline.  Our team of data protection experts will aim to answer your questions and will help you to understand your existing data protection compliance framework, advise on any issues identified and then provide further support to mitigate the risks associated with these issues.  As well as providing support over the telephone, we can provide documentation to fill gaps in your business.  We will send you customisable templates and help you to complete them, if required
