2021/22 MOT Annual Training Update – November 2021

2021/22 MOT Annual Training Update – November 2021

03 November 2021

We have now passed the halfway point for the 2021/22 MOT Annual Training year, with the deadline remaining at 31st March 2022. Testers will be suspended if they have not completed their training and assessment by this date, so with five months remaining before the deadline and an 80% assessment pass mark, it’s vital that testers have a plan in place to fulfil their requirements with plenty of time to spare.

The RMI Academy of Automotive Skills offers a selection of MOT annual training packages to ensure that all testers can comply with DVSA’s requirements by the deadline, ranging from face-to-face training at your garage premises or an RMI Academy venue, to complete remote learning either online or in a physical workbook. All options include access to the online assessment included in their cost, unless specified.

To help testers log their assessment pass score, their assessment result will now upload directly from the awarding body. Due to this, it is vital that candidates correctly fill in their DVSA user ID and date of birth when undertaking their assessment. Once completed successfully, the result will then be automatically added to the tester’s record on the MTS by the awarding body.

You can browse our training options below, or for more information about the annual assessment you can visit RMItrainingAcademy.co.uk/annual-assessment.

The following annual training packages are currently available:

E-Learning – NEW PLATFORM

Annual training and the online assessment can be carried out fully online through the RMI Academy’s brand-new, interactive e-learning platform. Click here to view some screenshots.

Testers can study from the convenience of their home or workplace at a time that suits them, with the freedom to revisit areas of the course as little or as much as they like at their own pace. This option is also available for class 1 & 2 vehicles (motorcycles).

Key features include:

  • A mixture of text, photos, interactive elements and videos, creating an engaging learning experience
  • Question boxes to test knowledge throughout the course
  • Save pages to quickly go back and find information
  • Make notes on each page, making it easy to revise before taking the assessment
  • ‘Learn More’ sections provide extra resources and links to Government information to encourage further research
  • Certificate received upon completing the required training hours

Each e-learning package costs £60 + VAT. For more information, or to book the e-learning course, please call us on 01788 225 908.

Annual Training Workbook

Our cost-effective annual training workbooks allow testers to train from anywhere, in their own time. The workbooks contain self-learning material, sample assessment questions, a log and declaration form as evidence that training has been completed, and personal login details to access the online assessment. This option is also available for class 1 & 2 vehicles (motorcycles).

Workbooks cost £45 + VAT, and you can order as many as you need by calling us on 01788 225 908.

Regional Training Events

The RMI is continuing with our Regional MOT Training Events for testers who prefer face-to-face training in their local area, in a range of locations across the UK.

These three-hour training sessions will cover the 2021/22 MOT annual training syllabus; however, the online assessment will then need to be completed in your own time:

Click on the event you’d like to attend to find out more, including event times and location details, or book tickets by calling 01788 225 908. Tickets cost £70 + VAT, and places are strictly limited so that testers can remain socially distanced.

Classroom Training at the RMI Academies

The RMI Academies offer classroom-based training sessions at each of our training sites, where testers can complete their three hours of training and Annual Assessment in one half-day session. Places must be booked at least one day in advance of the course date, and capacity is strictly limited for each class to comply with social distancing rules. This option is also available for class 1 & 2 vehicles (motorcycles).

This package costs £95 + VAT and includes a training session, an RMI workbook, access to the online assessment and tea/coffee. To book a place, please call us on 01788 225 908.

Enhanced Annual Training Classroom Sessions

Enhanced courses are also available at RMI Academy sites to provide testers with further training beyond the minimum 3 hours required, and again has a limited classroom capacity.

This one-day course costs £195 + VAT, including assessment costs, and you can call the Member Helpline to book.

On-Site Training

We are once again providing on-site training this year. This option provides face-to-face training with a member of our field services team for up to 6 testers at a time, and is held at your garage premises providing suitable social distancing measures are in place within your business.

Testers will receive the mandatory 3 hours of training and will be given an assessment code to complete the annual assessment at their own leisure. This option is also available for class 1 & 2 vehicles (motorcycles).

Please note: Due to the extreme popularity of this package, we recommend booking your training date as far in advance as possible to secure your business’ preferred training date.

On-site training starts from £245 + VAT for RMI Members. Access to the annual assessment is not included in this package and is £34 + VAT per candidate.

To book on-site training, please call the Member Helpline on 01788 225 908.

Extra Information

All RMI training packages include at least three hours of training or self-learning for the 2021/22 syllabus for class 4 & 7 vehicles, plus the online assessment. Where specified, training is also available for class 1 & 2 vehicles. All options meet the mandatory annual requirements set by the DVSA.
