RMI Academy - New MOT Tester Training

28 January 2016

In the December bulletin we announced that the RMI is opening a new training facility. The RMI Academy of Automotive Skills will launch at Southam, in the Midlands, and will be running a pilot for the new MOT tester training from April.

There will three pilot courses, running across three weeks. Each one will run for three days, totalling 24 hours of training. Delegates will become some of the first testers in the country to take the course, which will be free of charge.

We need 20 delegates to take part in the pilot, and we are now taking names. If you would like to put an employee forward, please call the member helpline on 0845 305 4230.

  • Testers must have evidence of a Level 3 qualification, according to the guidelines set out by DVSA.
  • Testers must have safety footwear for the workshop
  • Testers must have a valid driving license and proof of identity
  • Testers must have no unspent criminal convictions in line with current DVSA specifications

On completion of the pilot, there will continue to be at least one course per week. There will be an introductory all inclusive price of around £400 for members, and around £1,000 for non-members.

Places will be snapped up quickly and are first come, first serve, so take advantage of this free training opportunity and call the member helpline now to book a place for your tester.
