Supporting BEN, the Automotive Industry Charity
BEN is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to those who work, or have worked, in the automotive industry and their family dependents. BEN offers practical help, support and advice that makes a lasting, positive difference to people’s lives. In addition to its wide range of free confidential information, advice and support services, BEN operates highly-regarded care centres at various locations throughout the UK.
BEN released their quarterly Impact Report in August, sharing how their team has needed to support the sector throughout the last three months through articles and interesting statistics.
This quarter, they had a total of 466 enquiries to the support service team, and, of those, 49% were about money worries. The proportion of calls about loneliness and social isolation increased from 9.5% to 13% this quarter, and 81% of clients were of working age.
BEN’s help is free and confidential for you and your immediate family. Whether you have financial troubles, health problems, mental health worries or you’re feeling alone and need someone to talk to, you can receive support from BEN to make lasting, positive change.
You can ask for help or donate through the BEN website, , or by calling them on 08081 311 333.
For the third year running, the IGA will be fundraising for BEN by taking part in Bangers4Ben 2016. This year’s event in October will see 50 companies taking part in a Ferrari themed trip and travelling to The Maranello Village in Italy, staying in the only Ferrari themed hotel on the planet, and visiting the Ferarri museum and test track - all in a car bought for less than £750, which will then be auctioned off for BEN after the event.
We’re still looking for a car to complete the event. If you have something suitable you’d like to donate to BEN for us to use we’d love to hear from you. Ideally we’re looking for something big and old and quirky – and preferably Italian!
Last year’s event raised nearly £56,000, of which the IGA raised £1,210. We are hoping to raise even more this year, so please to donate any amount you can to support our industry’s charity..
You can also let us know if you are taking part in any fundraising yourself, so we can help to promote it, by getting in touch on 0845 305 4230, or through our or pages.
