Trust My Garage – Show your customers your garage is part of a CTSI-approved Code of Practice

Trust My Garage is the Independent Garage Association’s nationally recognised customer assurance scheme. It is a consumer code that acts as a badge of quality for the independent sector, and is a recognised brand that customers know they can trust. Our members are audited to ensure high standards in service, working practices and training.

Trust My Garage does not charge members or consumers for this service – it’s a Code of Practice for independent garages and a benefit of IGA membership that does not “skim”.

What does TMG status mean for your garage?

As the largest representative body for independent garages in the UK, Trust My Garage can set your business apart from the competition. By displaying the marque of good quality work and customer service, you can boost your reputation, increase sales, safeguard your existing customer base and gain consumer trust.

Why does CTSI approval matter?

The Trust My Garage Code of Practice is Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) approved, which helps you advertise your business as one that consumers can trust. It will give your customers confidence that you are complying with the high standards set by the code, and will give them extra protection beyond their normal consumer rights such as a robust complaints procedure and clear contractual information.

All current TMG members must have the joint TMG/CTSI logo prominently displayed on their website as part of CTSI’s brand guidelines. You can download the logos from the members area by clicking here (both formats displayed below), and you can read the guidelines in full here.

How can you showcase your TMG status?

As well as displaying the joint TMG/CTSI logo, you will receive external TMG signage to display at your premises and TMG-branded marketing materials to distribute to customers. If you need more TMG supplies, call our helpline or send us an email and we’ll send them straight to your business!

You can also make sure your profile page on the TMG website is updated with the latest information and photos for your business. To make sure your profile details are updated, click here to log in to the TMG website (using the same details you use for the IGA website).

Once logged in you will be on your Garage Account page. On this page you can update:

  • Your garage address and contact details
  • A description of your garage
  • Photos of your garage and team
  • Your location on the TMG map
  • Your ‘services offered’ checklist – consumers can filter their search results by service, so it is beneficial to keep this updated. NEW services are also now available to select!
  • Business opening hours

Don’t forget to engage with our social media too – share posts with your customers from our TMG blog, retweet from our Twitter account and share your thoughts via our Facebook page.

How can I join TMG?

Joining Trust My Garage is an optional benefit of IGA membership. Each new member undergoes a site audit to make sure your systems and processes meet our high standards and that your employees are properly trained. You will also need to have access to the latest diagnostic equipment and technical information, and be committed to providing excellent customer service.
