HMRC have published some resources to help businesses file their VAT return. Nearly all VAT registered businesses must file their VAT returns online, and any payments due must be paid electronically too.

Even if you don’t have any VAT to pay, you still need to complete a ‘nil’ VAT return, so it’s important you have an online account with HMRC. You can register and enrol to their Online Services at www.hmrc.gov.uk by clicking Register, then New Users.

They have also created an interactive e-learning package which guides you through charging and reclaiming VAT, accounting schemes, VAT returns and more, with links in each section to show you where to fill out relevant forms online.
