Stricter data protection laws will be coming into force on 25th May next year. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has increased levels of security to ensure that businesses are more diligent with their customers’ data, breaches could incur fines of up to 4% of annual turnover. We are preparing ‘A Garage guide to GDPR’ and an additional level of onsite support for members which will be launched later this year. Details will follow in the coming months informing you exactly what you need to do in the lead up to the deadline. Please see the article below for further information.
In 2012, the IGA launched a unique on-site technical training programme for independents. Since then and over 4,000 courses later, it is now time to modernise and completely overhaul this training programme. Members have always asked us to do more in this area and with the increase in our resources we are now working on refining and expanding our training offering both in the field and at the RMI Training Academies in Southam and Runcorn. Look out for a new Training Catalogue in the post which will give more details on these new offerings including, by popular demand - Oscilloscope training.
The charity BEN supports anyone who works, or has worked, in the automotive industry. They focus on the four pillars of health: physical, mental, financial and social. We have teamed up with BEN to give you tailored advice on these topics every month, and will work with BEN to provide help to any members who need support. If there is a particular service you would like to see BEN offer, take part in their survey below to help them to meet the needs of the industry and shape their future offerings.
On that note, the IGA will be taking part in Bangers 4 BEN again this year so if you’d like to help to support your industry’s charity, you can make a donation at www.justgiving.com/IGA-B4B17.
