With the judging process now underway for The BIG Awards, I would like to personally say a very big thank you to every garage that has participated. We had a significant number of entries and I am delighted that the level of representation in our sector has been so high. If you have not been shortlisted, the IGA will be in contact soon to offer feedback on your entry statement. These are your awards, and we are looking forward to hosting you all at the ceremony on Friday 19th June. If you would like to attend this special evening, please call the member helpline on 0845 305 4230.
With less than one month to go, the DVSA has stated that nearly 50% of testers still need to complete their MOT annual training and assessment. Last year, 1,882 testers were suspended from testing on April 1st for failing to complete their training and record their assessment results correctly. It is your responsibility to ensure your testers are meeting DVSA’s requirements. Check the annual training update below for instructions on how to check that assessment results have been recorded correctly.
Thank you to those of you who have already taken part in our national labour rate survey. Your information is vital to help us accurately map out average rates across each region for the upcoming labour rate report. There is still time to share your hourly labour rate via the article below.
Over the past month we have received a spate of calls from members being targeting by ‘Card Not Present’ scams, where goods or vehicles are being paid for over the phone with stolen card details and being picked up the next day. Please remain vigilant when being asked to take payment over the phone and refresh yourself on the guidelines below, as you will be responsible for any losses if you do not follow the correct procedure.
