Dear Member,
We have received a large number of communications from members with regard to the connectivity of roller brake testers. As of 1st October, any newly installed brake tester will need to be connected, however your current equipment does not, and there is no requirement for new equipment to be purchased. You can find out more information, including a list of acceptable equipment, in the bulletin below.
Could you be a BIG award winner? Today sees the announcement of the twelve award categories up for grabs at the IGA’s British Independent Garage of the Year Awards. Take a look at the categories below and start preparing your entries to be a part of this high-profile event celebrating Britain’s best garages and technicians. Website and entry information will be available soon.
The DVSA have created a new MOT Consultant role that allows auditors or consultants to view your MOT statistics in order to provide guidance on running your test centre. If you are a subscriber to the RMI’s MOT QC scheme, you can find a form below to add an RMI auditor to your MTS that will reduce disruption on site visits, plus give you the option of unannounced site visits that replicate the DVSA.
If you are concerned by the Parliamentary shutdown ahead of Brexit, please be assured that the IGA will keep you well-informed of any developments that could affect your garage business, and any action you may need to take if necessary. We will continue to ensure that your voices are heard in Government, so please get in touch if you have any particular concerns.

Best regards,
Stuart James
