Head of Policy
Aslam is the IGA’s Head of Policy.
He looks after the standards and certification part of the business and provides health and safety assistance to members. He has also been involved with helping the IGA’s technical training gain IMI accreditation, and sits on the Health and Safety Executive’s Motor Vehicle Repair Forum on behalf of the IGA, which provides communication to and on behalf of members.
Aslam has been in the motor industry for 17 years, joining the MVRA as an administration assistant in the health and safety department after graduating with a degree in Politics. He attained the NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification and progressed to carrying out health and safety manufacturer audits.
After the MVRA became part of the RMI, Aslam moved to the IGA in 2011 and started compiling and accumulating documentation which would enable the company to carry out standard certification audits. To this end, he helped to set up RMI Standards and Certification (RMISC), which was accredited in 2012 to allow auditing to specified standards.
Aslam’s hobbies include running and watching lots of different sports.
Not a lot of people know that - Outside of the IGA, Aslam works at Blackburn Rovers Football Club on match days as a Health and Safety Assessor and Children’s Officer.
